Sonia Myre, MA, Registered Psychotherapist, Canadian Certified Counsellor

Specializing in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and group psycho-education and presentations

About me

I am a bilingual (English and French) registered psychotherapist who has been offering individual and group therapy and psychoeducational services since 2004 to a variety of populations in a wide range of settings.

My areas of expertise include anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorder, as well as interpersonal difficulties, and all problems related to emotional regulation. I am an acceptance and mindfulness therapist, specializing in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (for which I received training from Behavioural tech, one of the few institutes recognized for this highly specialized form of intervention), but also use elements of Cognitive-Behavioural, Schema, and attachment-based therapies.

My ultimate goal is to help my clients move towards increased wellness and functionality, using practical tools delivered with a generous dose of compassion and humour.

Individual therapy

I offer individual therapy sessions to adults (18 years and older) during daytime hours.

Appointments generally last 50 minutes. The frequency and length of treatment will depend on each client's individual needs and preferences.

My professional fee is $175 per 50-minute session. Payments must be made before or at the end of each session by e-transfer or credit card (a $5 charge applies to the latter). If you cancel an appointment less than 24 hours in advance, the full amount of the session will be charged to you. If you have an insurance plan, please verify with your provider that sessions with registered psychotherapists are covered. Also note that since January 2016 psychotherapy services can further be claimed as a medical expense for income tax purposes.

Group events and presentations

I have been offering psychotherapy, psychoeducation and presentations since 2004 on a number of different topics to a variety of clinical and professional populations. I offer practical, evidence-based and personally tailored tools for employees and managers to increase their mental health and functionality and, consequently, those of their organization.

While many employers are focused on absenteeism, it is also becoming increasingly important to address presenteeism, whereby an increasing number of employees are present in their positions but might be experiencing symptoms – including sub-clinical anxiety or depression – causing loss of productivity and reduced health and wellness. My presentations and group events are intended to address these areas and more.

My services can range from a one-hour presentation to an intensive workshop or group spanning more than a day. Popular themes include stress and anxiety management, interpersonal relationships, as well as mindfulness, but the needs of your staff and organization will ultimately dictate the topics covered. The cost for services will vary depending on length of the presentation or workshop, the number of participants, as well as other event specifics.

I look forward to working with you to best address the particular needs of your staff and organization.
